Summer time is a great time to re-discover a room.  With the extra space of a deck or yard, empty a non functioning room out.  Paint it and bring only the items that are useful and needed, back in.  The rest you can integrate into other rooms or pop in your trunk and take them to a second hand store.

While sitting on the porch monitoring the kids, take time this summer to write a note of thanks or encouragement to people that worked hard this past winter on your behalf.  Think of your clergymen, teachers, Sunday school teachers, pastor’s wife, babysitters, garbage man, favourite server at your local coffee shop, a neighbor etc.  Christmas gets hectic to remember everyone but summer offers a sweet time to receive an unexpected note of appreciation.
